2019 Highlander Engine Power & Options

The Toyota Highlander offers a few engine options for different styles of drivers. It comes standard with the 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine, which comes paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and can deliver 185 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The optional 3.5-liter V6 engine gets mated to the Direct-Shift 8-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission, and produces 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque. The Highlander even offers a hybrid 3.5-liter V6 engine, which gets the Electronically Controlled Continuously Variable Transmission, and produces 306 net horsepower.

Passenger & Cargo Space

This SUV offers a spacious cabin that’s equipped to carry seven to eight passengers over three rows of seating. The front row includes 40.7 inches of headroom and 44.2 inches of legroom, while the second row includes 39.9 inches of headroom and 38.4 inches of legroom. The third row offers passengers 35.9 inches of headroom and 27.7 inches of legroom.

Since the second and third rows are equipped with the respective 60/40 split, slide, and fold-flat benches, you can easily fit longer materials in the Highlander by partially folding down the seats. The vehicle offers 13.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, but when the row is folded, the cargo area expands to 42.3 cubic feet. When the second and third rows are folded down, the Highlander offers 83.7 cubic feet of total cargo space.

Entertainment & Safety Technology

The 2019 Toyota Highlander includes some pretty sophisticated features within its cabin. The Entune™ Audio system includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen that provides access to the entertainment features like the AM/FM radio, the CD player, the USB or auxiliary-connected media device, or the Bluetooth®-paired smartphone for audio streaming.
