The 2020 Toyota RAV4 TRD Preview

This upcoming edition of the notably redesigned 2019 RAV4 will set the standard for performance-based midsize SUVs.

RAV4 TRD Power & Performance

Drivers can certainly take comfort in the impressive abilities that the TRD version of the RAV4 is capable of. It’s fixed with the Dynamic Force 2.5L 4-cylinder engine which can produce a remarkable 203 horsepower. This engine is paired with the 8-speed Direct-Shift Automatic Transmission to give drivers complete control of the vehicle’s performance. This transmission offers numerous drive modes, including Sport, Normal, and Eco.

On top of the impressive performance, the RAV4 TRD Off-Road can effectively tow up to 3,500 pounds—making it the perfect set of wheels for those weekend getaways and excursions. The vehicle includes the Dynamic Torque Vectoring All-Wheel Drive (TV-AWD) as a standard feature, which can direct roughly half the torque output to the rear wheels to enhance the control and handling of the vehicle on or off the road.

The Multi-terrain Select really gives control to the driver and how they determine the level of power and traction they’ll need for the ground ahead. There’s Mud & Sand for beaches and bogs, Rock & Dirt for significant trails, or even the Snow for when the weather outside is frightful and the roads aren’t very delightful.

TRD Off-Road Style & Design

While the 2019 RAV4 unveiled the classic midsize SUV’s new appearance, the TRD version simply expands upon it. Built off of the back of the Adventure trim, the TRD adds some personalized style to the cabin and the exterior of the vehicle. The front and rear include dark gray fascias, black-painted accents, and LED fog lights to highlight the terrain. The vehicle even features larger over-fenders and matte black 18-inch TRD alloy wheels with aggressive and all-terrain tires. 

The interior adds black SofTex® seating and TRD front seat badging with extra bolstering to add more comfort for some tricky rides. There’s even red stitching on the dashboard and seating surfaces to highlight the difference between this edition and the standard RAV4.
