However, if you want to head right to the source of some notable locally crafted beer, you may want to visit Port City Brewing Company. This local brewery has certainly made a name for itself with its assortment of ales, so here are a few details to help you learn more for your visit!
About Port City Brewing Company
This local brewery and alehouse is the oldest packaging brewery in the greater Washington D.C. area. The team and brew masters take crafting the perfect ales very seriously. On top of utilizing green and sustainable methods with running their brewery, they incorporate some unique and patented components to assist with their brewing. The Hopzooka is a piece of machinery designed and created by the head brewer which allows them to add hops directly to their brews without having to expose the beer to oxygen.
While the brewery churns out a variety of ales, they also offer plenty for patrons. You can drop by and take a tour of the brewery to learn more about their process and team, and learn a little about the history of the brewery. You’ll even have the chance to check out the Hopzooka and see it in action!
But of course, if you’re just in the mood to enjoy some crispy ales fresh from the tap, their tasting room encompasses the look of a 1950s diner, with some nostalgic posters and decorations (and plenty of trophies and awards), as well as the checkered floor. They’ll have special events regarding new beer releases, food truck days, trivia nights, and even fun themed parties throughout the year!
