Cabin Space & Amenities

2018 Toyota Highlander

Whether you’re a party of one or of eight, you’ll find lots of passenger room in the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot.

This is especially the case up front, where the Highlander has 40.7 inches of headroom and 44.2 inches of legroom. The Pilot, meanwhile, has just 40.1 inches of front headroom and 40.9 inches of front legroom. If you’re a bit on the taller side, then you may be more comfortable in the Toyota SUV.

Both vehicles have lots of creature comforts to help keep every on-board passenger comfortable. These include heated/ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel. No matter the time of year, you’ll be able to warm up or cool down with ease.

Stepping things up a notch, the Toyota Highlander offers a 12-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function. You and another driver can save your seating and mirror positions, making it easy to trade off driving duties.

The Honda Pilot offers a memory function in its driver’s seat, too, but with fewer power adjustment options. Therefore, you may not get as comfortable as you could in the Toyota model.

Advanced Safety Features

2018 Toyota HighlanderThe 2018 Toyota Highlander and 2018 Honda Pilot are known for being very safe SUVs. In fact, they each earned a 2018 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Toyota comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P). This suite of driver-assisting technologies was designed to help alert you to things you might miss while driving, to give you complete peace of mind.

Some of the features included in TSS-P are:

  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist: If the system senses that you’re unintentionally drifting from your lane, you’ll get visual and audible alerts to safely guide your vehicle back to the center of your lane. It may even make small steering adjustments to help keep the car in your lane.
  • Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection: Uses an in-vehicle camera and radar to detect cars or pedestrians in front of you. If an imminent frontal collision is detected, the system can apply the brakes to help avoid it or reduce its severity.

The Pilot has similar safety features, but they are only available as options.

Cutting-Edge Technologies

Whether you’re in the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot, you’ll have access to lots of high-tech features to stay connected and entertained.

For instance, both vehicles offer SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. With over 100 channels of music, sports, comedy and news to choose from, you’ll always find something new to listen to. They also both offer integrated navigation systems, to easily get you from point A to point B.

Additionally, if you need to talk to the people in the back, then you can utilize the available Driver Easy Speak feature in the Toyota Highlander. It has a built-in microphone in front that picks up your voice and transmits it to the rear-seat passengers through the back speakers.

Meanwhile, the Honda Pilot doesn’t offer a feature like this in any of its trim levels.
