2019 Toyota Tacoma vs Honda Ridgeline
A Brief History of Toyota vs Honda
Both automotive companies are from Japan. Toyota was founded in 1937 while Honda came several years later in 1948. Toyota and Honda both made a name for producing safe and efficient vehicles with a variety of different body styles and models. Toyota first arrived in America in 1957 while Honda came much later in the 1980s. But since their arrival to the American market, both companies thrived, and to this day, have become some of the most sought-after brands in today’s automotive market.
Taking Safety Seriously
Toyota and Honda both take safety as a high priority with not only the structure of their models, but the protective features included. However, in today’s world of vehicle safety, driver-assistive technology has rose in prominence to providing drivers with a necessary safety net to avoid any incidents on the road. While both vehicles now offer the respective Toyota Safety Sense™ P and Honda Sensing® features at the base level, Toyota made these features standard in 2017 while Honda followed suite the following year by including these features with their 2018 lineup.
Features & Technology
Even though both companies offer a lot to drivers with their in-cabin features, there’s a clear difference with what comes standard. Toyota includes the Entune™ system, which includes a touchscreen display that’s 6.1- to 7-inches in size. Honda, on the other hand, usually offers the 5-inch LCD display, with the option toward upgrading to a larger display with touchscreen capabilities.
Another major divide in the included convenience features, Toyota has voice recognition technology available at the base level. This feature makes it easier to make media or Bluetooth® phone contact selections, allowing drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and use their voice to do the selecting. Honda offers this feature after a few upgrades.
Choosing Your Next Car from Toyota
While you’ve learned a bit about both impressive automotive brands, you also learned that Toyota has some significant advantages over Honda that drivers prefer. Not only has Toyota been first in its arrival to America and its inclusion of driver-assisting features, but it also introduces hybrid options before Honda, even making the Prius model one of the top hybrid models on the market.
But when it’s time to choose your next car, and you’re leaning toward Toyota, you can always drop by Waldorf Toyota to check out the array of options, from the stylish Toyota Camry, the adventurous RAV4, or the powerful Tundra, you’ve got plenty to choose from.
