Toyota Camry Dashboard Light Guide

2019 Toyota Camry

There’s nothing like enjoying your journey throughout the Waldorf, Bowie, and Saint Charles areas in your Toyota Camry. However, when you see a blinking light appear on the dashboard, you may need to pull over to determine the issue that your vehicle is experiencing. But by knowing what your Toyota Camry dashboard lights mean, it can help you determine if the issue is minor, or if it needs immediate attention.

At Waldorf Toyota, we’re here to help drivers by providing them with this Camry dashboard light guide, where we’ll explain both indicator and warning lights, what they mean, and what you should do when they appear on your dashboard.

Indicator Lights vs Warning Lights

Check Engine Light

One major factor that can help you is knowing the difference between indicator lights and warning lights. Indicator lights are lighter in color (yellow, blue, green) and simply appear when a system has been activated, or if you’ve forgot to deactivate something.

Warning lights, on the other hand, have an orange or red appearance, and they indicate a problem with your vehicle. When the light flashes, it means the problem is severe and you should immediately pull your vehicle over and contact your authorized Toyota dealer for assistance.

Indicator Lights

  • Airbag On/Off- This light will appear to let you know if the occupant sensor detects a passenger in the front. If there is no passenger, the light should say “Off.”
  • ECO Mode-When this light appears, it means that you’re currently driving at your most fuel efficient.
  • Slip Indicator-If your vehicle experiences a loss of traction, this light will come on to let you know the traction and stability control systems have been activated. Once the vehicle regains traction, the light will go away.
  • Parking Brake Indicator-This light will pop on if the parking brake is still engaged to warn you that you should disengage it prior to starting your journey.

Warning Lights

Low Fuel Light

  • Electric Power Steering Warning- When you see a steering wheel icon with an exclamation point, it means that your power steering isn’t functioning properly. In this event, you should pull over to safety and contact your Toyota dealer. Don’t resume your journey because your Camry will be difficult to maneuver.
  • Low Tire Pressure Warning-This light, which has a horseshoe emblem with an exclamation point, indicates that your tire is low on air. When this occurs, you should find the nearest gas station/air pump, and fill your tire up to the appropriate PSI.
  • Brake System Warning-When you see “BRAKE” appear, it means that there’s a malfunction with your braking system and that you should pull over to safety. Restart the vehicle, and if the light still appears, contact your Toyota dealer immediately.
  • Low Fuel Warning-This illuminated gas pump icon indicates that your vehicle is low on fuel. You should pull over to the nearest gas station to fill your tank. If the light is flashing, and you’re not near a gas station, you should pull over and contact assistance or emergency fuel delivery services.
