The Difference Between Indicator Lights & Warning Lights

There are two sets of lights that appear on your Toyota Highlander dashboard: indicators and warnings. Indicator lights simply let you know of systems that you’ve activated, or ones that you’ve forgotten to turn off. Warning lights, on the other hand, are real-time warnings that are letting you know of a vehicle or engine component that is experiencing a malfunction. Now that you know the difference, you’re ready to see what these dashboard lights mean!

Highlander Indicator Lights

  • WALDORF TOYOTA- TOYOTA HIGHLADER DASHBOARD LIGHT GUIDESlip Indicator- When your vehicle has an issue gaining traction on a slick road, the Slip Indicator light will appear because the traction and stability control systems are on and working to help your vehicle regain traction. Once traction is achieved, the light will turn off.
  • High Beam Indicator- If you’ve turned your high beams on, this light will remind you so you can deactivate them when a vehicle approaches, or when you’ve arrived at your destination.
  • Downhill Assist Indicator- If equipped, and your Downhill Assist activates, this light will come on to let you know that this system is working to help you while driving down a steep hill.
  • Air Bag ON/OFF- This light comes on when it recognizes that a passenger is in the front with the “ON” light activated. If there’s no front passenger, the light should be in the “OFF” position.
